The most damaging pests are by far are the Termites, also commonly known as White Ants. These destructive pests feed on timber, and if not identified they can eat their way through the whole house, leaving it structurally compromised with a large repair bill.

One of the most stressful things about finding termites in your home is that the damage may not be covered under your building insurance. If you buy a house that has been affected by termites, you could find the damage running into tens of thousands of dollars, a devastating and highly stressful situation.
The cost of a pre-purchase pest inspection is insignificant versus the potential costs of finding live termites or damage. You simply wouldn’t buy a new property without one.
If old or current termite workings are found in the property you can use this to negotiate the sale price of your new home or investment property. You may decide to walk away and save yourself the headache. Just ensure you have the standard clause “Subject to Pest and Building Inspection” in your contract of sale.
Your timber pest inspection will include non-invasive inspection within the property and surrounds for any evidence of timber pests including termites, borers and fungi rot. Your certified pest inspector will also provide an opinion regarding the exposure to infestation by timber pests at the time of inspection.
